About

Future Education is an Independent Special School based in Norwich for children aged 13 – 16 who require specialist teaching, resources and adult support.

We specialise in providing therapeutic support alongside a broad and balanced curriculum which is individualised to meet the needs of students with a range of social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Future Education believes in providing an engaging and supportive environment where pupils with diverse needs can re-connect with learning and progress and develop their skills to prepare for adult life.

Our Vision & Mission

Future Education’s vision is of vibrant strong communities which are free from disadvantage or deprivation. Our key mission is to provide a balanced vocational, academic and personal education to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, engaging them in learning, inspiring them to achieve, and nurturing them to become successful adults.

We truly care for the pupils in our school and their families and recognise that in order to give the same access to opportunities we must treat each person as an individual. As such, everything we do is considered in the child’s best interests.

Our Ethos

Future Education believes in providing a nurturing and supportive environment where pupils with diverse needs can re-engage with learning on an individual basis, whilst insisting on high standards of work and behaviour.

We truly care for the pupils in our school and their families and recognise that in order to give the same access to opportunities we must treat each person as an individual. As such, everything we do is considered in the child’s best interests.

We believe that only through meaningful relationships of trust and understanding can we help pupils develop the wellbeing and confidence to learn and grow.

Caring: providing consistent and reliable care for each child, building positive relationships which act as a ‘secure base’ from which children can develop and be supported to maximise their potential.

Adaptability: being child centred and adapting the way we work to suit each pupil, understanding their individual needs and situations and utilising this to help them learn

Responsibility: holding ourselves and others to account, and accepting responsibility for our decisions and actions

Equality & Diversity: understanding, respecting, and celebrating our differences and similarities, and ensuring that everybody has access to opportunities to learn and grow.

Our Approach

We recognise that mainstream educational settings don’t work for everyone.

Our school is for pupils who have been excluded from mainstream education or have found it difficult to learn in these settings. Future Education has developed a programme of learning and therapeutic support that engages and nurtures our pupils, which helps inspire them to become their best selves.

Future Education are specialists in therapeutic support. As our pupils find it hard to engage in a standard curriculum we focus on individual therapeutic provisions which are tailored to each pupil. These therapeutic measures help our students re-engage with learning and help prepare them for their exciting futures ahead. For more information on our therapies click below.

Future education works with local alternative education providers to help create a truly unique learning environment. Our providers range from Norwich City FC to Mad Science Norfolk and Century Training Academy to Bush Craft. These alternative provisions allows our pupils to build new skills to help them secure future employment or further education. Our full list of providers can be found here.

We believe that only through meaningful relationships of trust and understanding can we help pupils develop the wellbeing and confidence to learn and grow.

This approach is underpinned and supported by:

  • EHCPs, Special Needs and Assessment data
  • Therapeutic & Reflective Practice Development
  • Strong Governance & Leadership

Governance

Future Education is part of Future Projects, a registered charity based in Norwich. As such, Trustees of the charity are the proprietors of Future Education and therefore ultimately responsible for ensuring it is well run and safe.

In order to discharge this duty Trustees have appointed a board of Governors to provide strategic and operational support to the School, working closely with the Head Teacher, Chief Executive Officer, and other Governors. This Governor board includes some representation from the Trustees to enable swift and appropriate decision making. School Governors are responsible for raising standards, promoting achievement and ensuring the wellbeing and safeguarding of pupils in the school. This is achieved by having a clear vision, a caring school ethos, strong strategic planning, an excellent working relationship with the Headteacher and senior leadership team who Governors hold accountable for the school’s performance, by regular monitoring to evaluate school performance and by having in place policies that will allow the school to achieve its aims, objectives and targets.
